Hermione Granger is the daughter of two dentists and therefore a muggle born child. She´s got "lots of bushy brown hair and rather large front teeth" (pg. 116).Hermione and Ron
Harry and Hermione meet on the train to Hogwarts for the first time, but Harry´s impression of her doesn’t seem like they would be getting real good friends, because she acts a bit bossy (by telling Ron and Harry to put their robes on; see pg. 118). Not liking Hermione doesn’t change at school, because she always knows everything and does everything right in class (pg. 187 "Everyone see here, Miss Granger’s done it!"). That is quite amazing because she is a Muggle, but she learnt the whole set of books off by heart (pg. 117) and keeps studying all the time, which seems to be her hobby. She doesn’t care about a lot of homework, just knows that it has to be done.
Harry and Hermione still don’t get on any better, even though they share all their classes together, because they both belong to the Gryffindor House (pg. 132 – 134). And from one second to the other the whole situation changes, because Ron and Harry save Hermione’s life and because for the first time ever she tells a lie to the teachers to cover them up for getting her in such a trouble in the first place (pg. 187 – 195). She still keeps telling them off between all the studying she does, but even if they break rules for their adventures, she won’t ever let them down and helps them as much as she can.
Ron on the other hand becomes friends with Harry right away, when they meet going onto the platform nine and three-Quaters and later share a compartment on the train to Hogwarts (pg. 109). Ron comes from a big family – the Weasleys. We get to know most of the members of his family, except his two eldest brothers, who already left Hogwarts, but three of them (Fred, George, Percy) still attending it (pg. 106). That is why Ron has to use all the worn-off things, he hasn’t even got his own wand, not to mention the old robes and the pet (pg. 111). We also meet Ron’s parents and his little sister for a short time. They all have one common feature about them: their red hair. Ron is taller than Harry and quite skinny.
Compared to Harry and Hermione, Ron doesn’t seem to have any activity he does all the time, except for sneaking around with the other two. He just studies as much as he has to, plays a bit of wizard-chess and argues with his brothers. He would also never let his two mates down, supporting them as much as he can, but not thinking as much about the rules and consequences as Hermione.
