Harry Potter was protected from Voldemort because his mother loved him so deeply. Voldemort didn't know this strong power. The
dark side only knows hate and violence to destroy. But love is such a great power that it can stop destroying.

When you were loved and have also a lot of love you won't go to the dark side (like Harry for example). This love makes you resistant and you can not be tempted from the dark and bad way. This way is easier because it is easier to destroy than to create and to love.
